Laural Mill is a restored timber-frame barn on 40 private acres in Lawrence County, 25 minutes from Bloomington. The property works equally well for a ceremony of 50 or a reception of 100. You are not filling a space designed for twice as many people.

Large venues often struggle with small weddings. The room feels empty, the dance floor is sparse, and the staff is calibrated for bigger events. At Laural Mill, a small wedding is not a compromise — it is the use case the property was designed around.
The barn interior holds 200 comfortably, but it does not require it. A guest list of 75 feels full in the right configuration. A ceremony of 50 in The Grove has the same presence as one of 150 because the outdoor sites are naturally contained.
You get the same included items — tables, chairs, linens, setup, coordination — whether your guest count is 50 or 150. The experience does not scale down with your numbers.
Your Catering, Your Choice
For smaller weddings, catering is often where couples get flexibility they cannot find at larger venues. Laural Mill is BYOC — you bring any licensed caterer you want, whether that is a family-style dinner from a local Bloomington restaurant or a curated plated service from an Indianapolis caterer.
This matters for small weddings because your caterer can actually design a menu around your guest count without the minimums that come with larger venues. A 75-person dinner from a mid-size caterer is straightforward. The same caterer might not take a 75-person event at a hotel or country club.
BYOB is also allowed with a licensed bartender. You control the bar program for your event without venue-mandated packages.
